Bob Saget, ‘America’s Dad,’ found dead in Orlando hotel

‘Full House’ star performed Friday at Hard Rock Hotel at Universal Orlando

ORLANDO, Fla. – Bob Saget, comedian and actor known as “America’s Dad” for his role as Danny Tanner on “Full House,” was found dead Sunday at a hotel in Orlando, according to sheriff’s officials.

Saget, 65, performed Friday at the Hard Rock Hotel at Universal Orlando and was found dead by a security officer around 4:05 p.m. at The Ritz-Carlton Orlando, Grande Lakes on Central Florida Parkway, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office said.

“Earlier today, deputies were called to the Ritz-Carlton Orlando, Grande Lakes for a call about an unresponsive man in a hotel room. The man was identified as Robert Saget & pronounced deceased on scene. Detectives found no signs of foul play or drug use in this case,” the sheriff’s office said in a Twitter post.

“We are devastated to confirm that our beloved Bob passed away today,” said Michael O’Brien, a publicist for the Saget family. “He was everything to us and we want you to know how much he loved his fans, performing live and bringing people from all walks of life together with laughter. Though we ask for privacy at this time, we invite you to join us in remembering the love and laughter that Bob brought to the world.”

The sheriff’s office said the Medical Examiner’s Office will determine Saget’s cause and manner of death.

No other details about his death have been released.

Saget was in Florida as part of his “I Don’t Do Negative Comedy Tour,” according to his Twitter feed.

Fans across Central Florida and beyond are remembering Saget as a family man, a friend, and someone who just made you laugh.

“Just surprised. Just that he’s so young and it’s very sad,” said Alicia Rein. “He’s such a great comedian. He had a great wholesome show the family could enjoy.”

“Shocked honestly. It’s kind of sad. Very funny man,” said Osiris Martinez.

“I love his standup. I love his comedy. You know Full House, I’m a 90′s baby, grew up on that. That’s really unfortunate,” said James Santos-Uossos.

The beloved actor leaves behind daughters Aubrey, Lara and Jennifer, whom he had with his first wife, Sherri Kramer. Saget married Kelly Rizzo in 2018.
