Anthony Jackson, 16, charged in two gun crimes in Orange City

Jackson confessed to committing both crimes and has three charges brought against him

ORANGE CITY, Fla. - According to the Volusia County Sheriff's Office, 16-year-old Anthony Jackson has been linked to a shooting and an attempted armed robbery that occurred in the past five days in Orange City.

The first incident took place on May 30, outside of the the Deltona Community Center where Jackson fired a gun into a crowd of people who were attending a party. According to witnesses, a verbal argument that escalated into a physical altercation resulted in Jackson heading to a vehicle to retrieve a gun and then began firing towards the crowd. Jackson fled the scene before police arrived. No one was injured during this incident.

On June 3, Jackson assaulted a 35-year-old man while participating in a drug deal in a Burger King parking lot in DeBary, according to police. The victim admitted to attempting to buy drugs from the 16-year-old, but that when he met with Jackson he pointed a gun at him and demanded his money. According to a police press release, Jackson attacked the victim, beating him in the head with the gun. The victim suffered only cuts and bruises and held onto his wallet. Jackson fled the scene before police arrived.

Police were able locate Jackson later that day at his home on East Gardenia Dr. He is now being held Volusia Regional Juvenile Detention Center in Daytona Beach.
