Man taken to hospital after being shocked by officers in Casselberry

CASSELBERRY, Fla. – A man suspected of breaking into a convenience store was tased and arrested after he allegedly ran away from law enforcement officers early Thursday.

The Seminole County Sheriff's Office said deputies were dispatched to the Supertest Joy America Foods convenience store around 1:30 a.m. after receiving a call for an alarm sounding.

As the first deputies arrived on scene, they spotted a man leaving the area and driving recklessly.

Deputies said they tried to pull the driver over for a traffic stop, but he fled east on State Road 436.

After a brief pursuit, the suspect crashed into a median and continued to flee.  This time running north on U.S. Highway 17-92, according to deputies. 

Casselberry Police joined deputies in the chase and caught up with the suspect outside the Casselberry Exchange shopping center.

An officer Tased the man after he tried to jump over some bushes.

Once the suspect was placed under arrest, he was taken to the hospital after complaining of shortness of breath, according to deputies.

The man will face burglary and  fleeing charges when he is booked into the Seminole County Jail.
