Deltona man caught cooking meth in garage, police say

DELTONA, Fla. - Three people from Deltona are under arrested after one was discovered cooking methamphetamine in an open garage.

On Saturday, the Volusia County Sheriff's Office responded to a tip of possible drug activity at 2241 Florida Drive. When the officer approached the home, the garage door was open and the officer saw a man "vigorously shaking a plastic bottle with a liquid substance," according to the report.

The officer's presence startled the man and he threw the bottle under a table. A full investigation of the home discovered evidence of an active meth lab including lithium batteries, muriatic acid and a smoking pipe.

Kelly Brooks, 45, Howard Cook, 42 and James Jackson, 57 were all charged with manufacture of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. Cook was also charged with possession of marijuana under 20 grams.

It is unclear which individual was the one found in the garage.
