Deputies: DeLand man robbed same business 3 times

$1,300 worth of equipment stolen in burglary spree, deputies say

DeLAND, Fla. – Volusia County deputies arrested a man who was caught burglarizing the same DeLand business three times in one week to steal $1,300 worth of pipes, posts and power tools.

Michael Harris, 23, was arrested on Friday on 11 charges associated with his burglary at S&B Machines on DeLand Crossings. Deputies said Harris first took power tools and tires on October 26, then several aluminum pipes and wire on November 1 and finally 200 aluminum square posts November 2.

Harris was identified as the burglar were deputies found the stolen power tools at an Orange City pawn shop, according to the report. Deputies said they attempted to pull Harris over on Friday morning, but he refused stop, instead jumping out of his car and running away.

Deputies caught up to Harris and he was booked into the Volusia County Jail and charged with three counts of burglary, three counts of grand theft, four counts of dealing in stolen property, fleeing or eluding, and driving with a suspended license.
