Victim standing in raised median when struck

WINTER PARK, Fla. – A man was killed while riding a bike Saturday after being hit by a vehicle in Winter Park.

The accident happened around 11:20 a.m. Saturday, Orange County Fire Rescue said.

The Florida Highway Patrol said that the victim was standing in the raised median with his bicycle waiting to cross Semoran Boulevard.

The driver, Eric Febres Alicea, 33, of Winter Park, was traveling north on Semoran when for some unknown reason, he traveled onto the raised median and struck the man with his bicycle.

Troopers said Alicea provided blood to be tested to confirm if he was using alcohol, drugs or both.

Alicea was arrested for DUI manslaughter. His bond was set at $10,000.
