ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. – A bear struck by a car and killed early Wednesday morning on Interstate 4 in Seminole County was moved from alongside the highway to a wooded area, wildlife officials said on Thursday.
The adult male bear, which weighed about 125 pounds, was hit around 1 a.m. on eastbound I-4 near State Road 434 on Wednesday
According to Seminole County deputies, a woman driving on I-4 struck the bear and pulled off at a nearby rest area. She was not injured in the crash.
Wildlife officials said bear mating season began recently, so the animals are more prone to roam.
