Gunman robs Burger King

Police look for man they say robbed Cocoa Burger King

COCOA, Fla. – Cocoa police said they are looking for a man that approached an employee behind a Burger King and robbed the restaurant.

Police said they were called out to the Burger King at State Road 520 and Interstate 95 around 6:45 a.m. Sunday in reference to a robbery.

At approximately 6:45 this morning, Sunday, February 23, 2014, an armed robbery occurred at the Burger King located at SR 520 and I-95 in Cocoa.

Police said an employee toldthem that as she opened the back door to take the trash out, a man pointed a gun at her and forced her back into the store. 

Police said the man took her into the office and demanded money. 

The gunman also asked if there were any other employees in the store and she told him there was someone else in the cooler, police said. 

Police said after getting money, the man forced the first employee into the cooler and told them to stay inside.  The employees waited several minutes before coming out and calling police.

Police said the man is described as a black male, approximately 6 feet tall.  He was wearing a black hoodie and had a bandana covering his face.   Most of his face was covered, but employees told police he was a light skinned man with freckles.  He was wearing dark pants and gloves and when he fled the scene he was carrying an orange bank bag.

Police said neither employee was physically hurt, but both are still very shaken and they are working on obtaining any video from the store or the surrounding area.
