WINTER HAVEN, Fla. - Less than a year after opening, Legoland Florida is expanding.
The theme park will announce plans for an expansion at a press conference Thursday.
A video file sent to journalists Tuesday strongly suggests the 2012 expansion will have a "Star Wars" theme.
The Lakeland Ledger has reported on Legoland's application for an expansion called Pirate Shores in 2013. Legoland officials have not commented on those plans.
Legoland, built on the 150-acre site of the former Cypress Gardens, is based on the building-block toys and has rides and attractions geared toward ages 2 to 12.
Legoland Florida is the second park in the U.S. built by the Lego Group of Denmark and operated by Merlin Entertainments Group in Great Britain.
