Local volunteers help Tropical Storm Debby victims

Group will rebuild church, feed families

LONGWOOD, Fla. – Volunteers from a local church will travel to Live Oak on Thursday to help families affected by Tropical Storm Debby.

Small teams of six to ten people from Northland Church in Longwood will spend about a week at a time in Live Oak.  The teams will be rebuilding Melody Christian Church and serving food to families who lost their homes. The church plans to send one team per week for about three weeks.

Northland Church is asking the public to volunteer. They are in need of cooks and food preparation volunteers who have completed a "food handler's course."
