Man attacks sleeping family with knives

Man stabs mother, 9-year-old nephew

APOPKA, Fla. – Apopka police are investigating why a man suddenly attacked his mother with a knife, then turned on his 9-year-old nephew in the middle of the night.

Apopka police said they arrested 29-year-old Abraham Francisco after they were called to the home at 1233 Himalayan Court around 2:46 a.m. Saturday.

Police said they spoke with the victim, Ercilia Abraham, who told them her son had attacked her with a knife causing her to flee her home. 

Abraham ran to a neighbor's house where a call was placed to 911, police said.

Police said Ericilia received multiple stab wounds to her upper back and shoulders and told police her son was still in her house. 

Police Officers said they surrounded the home and Abraham was apprehended as he was attempting to exit  through a rear window. 

Abraham stated his 9 year old nephew was in the home, police said. 

A search of the residence was conducted and the boy was located in a bedroom with multiple stab wounds and lacerations, police said. 

He was transported to a hospital where he is currently in stable condition.  Ericilia was also transported to a hospital where she underwent surgery and is currently listed in stable condition, police said.

Police said Abraham has a history of criminal activity, including possession of cocaine, battery, theft and burglary. 

Police said Abraham was taken to the Orange County Jail where he is being held on child abuse and attempted murder charges.

It is unknown at this time what provoked Abraham Francisco to violently attack his family members in the middle of the night, using multiple knives, while they were sleeping, police said.
