Police say man was pawning items to fund drug habit

MARION COUNTY, Fla. - A wiring technician employee of the Marion County School Board was arrested on Tuesday after turning himself in for pawning school board equipment to fund his drug habit, according to Ocala police.

Michael Stephen Ziebart, III, 23, has been arrested on 41 charges of pawning stolen property that totaled an estimated value of $11,300.

Ziebart pawned items between Sept. 16, 2013 and May 16, 2014.

Police said he received $2,875 for pawning items, including multiple projector systems and accessories, an iPad, an air compressor, tools and a digital recorder with a remote. He also pawned items he stole from his uncle, including rifles, shotguns and a Sony PlayStation 3.

He is currently being held on a $230,000 bond, but more charges are pending.

Ocala Police said in a news release that Ziebart's employment with the Marion County School Board is in the process of being terminated.
