16-year-old, 17-year-old shot at Orlando school

Teen shot during fight at Agape Christian Academy

ORLANDO, Fla. – A 16-year-old boy was shot in the hip and a 17-year-old boy was shot in the leg on Friday afternoon during a fight at an Orlando school, officials say.

The shooting occurred around 2 p.m. at Agape Christian Academy on Hiawassee Road near Silver Star Road.

Deputies said a group of kids gathered in the parking lot of the school when a fight ensued as part of an ongoing dispute. Multiple shots were fired and the shooter got into a car and left the scene, according to deputies.

"I saw people running in the window, people running," said first-grade student Edward, who saw the shooting unfold.

The boy was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

A second student was taken the hospital by his family after the shooting. The 17-year-old student was shot in the leg or ankle.

Deputies said one of the students shot was on the football team, which is still playing in Lakeland on Friday night.

No one has been taken into custody. Deputies said the shooter was not a student at the school and have not released information on the shooter's description.

"You have children here, who have nothing to do with this type of individual, we need community to help us get him off the street," said OCSO Cpt. Angelo Nieves.
