AK-47 thief sought after shooting at homes, Edgewater police say

No injuries sustained by occupants of house, police say

EDGEWATER, Fla. – Edgewater police are searching for a thief they say stole several firearms from a vehicle, including an AK-47, and then started firing into a neighborhood.

Police said a car burglary and gunshots were reported on Wednesday, at approximately 5 a.m. in the area of the 2300 block of Sabal Palm Drive.

The culprits are believed to have fired one of the stolen weapons several times in an easterly direction from the intersection of Travelers Palm Drive and 26th Street, according to police.

The occupied residence located at 2530 Kumquat Drive was struck by a bullet, police said, but no injuries were sustained by the residents.
