Bear found in downtown tree

Homeowner finds black bear in tree

ORLANDO, Fla. – Florida Fish and Wildlife officials said they are leaving a black bear that has been previously tagged in a tree, in hopes it will come down on its own.

The bear was discovered late Friday night in a large oak tree at West Central Boulevard and Tampa Avenue, officials said.

The bear, believed to be a male, had already been tagged and police said they are leaving it up in the tree.

Wildlife officials believe it will leave on its own as long as crowds leave it be.

Residents in the area said this is an unusual place for a bear to show up since the neighborhood is so close to the Citrus Bowl.
