Convicted felon stabs, kills man in wheelchair at McDonalds

Police arrest suspect in fatal stabbing

ORLANDO, Fla. – Orlando police said they arrested a convicted felon, who was released from jail less than a week ago and fatally stabbed another man inside a busy McDonalds, on Christmas night.

Police said Jerry Tyson, 38, has been charged with stabbing a man after a fight ensued while the man was paying for his order at the McDonalds at John Young Parkway and Colonial Drive at around 8 p.m.

Tyson was released from prison last Thursday, where he was incarcerated on murder and aggravated battery charges from 1999.

Police said the victim and Tyson started fighting after Tyson tried to grab money from the victim, who refused to give it to him. Tyson then stabbed the victim in the abdomen and took off running, according to police.

The victim was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center where he died, police said. His identity isn't being released pending next of kin notification.

The suspect was later found in a wooded area across the street by Orlando Police K-9 Units, police said.

Tyson was bitten by a K-9 dog and taken to the hospital for treatment, police said.
