'Despicable Me' ride opens at Universal Orlando

3D simulation ride takes guests though Minion training

ORLANDO, Fla. – You can now officially be turned into a Minion, when the highly-anticipated ride officially opened at Universal Studios, based on the movie, 'Despicable Me'.

It's called 'Minion Mayhem', a 3D simulation ride that lets you join the main character, Gru, as he takes you through training to become a Minion.

The park has been testing the ride for the last few weeks, letting guests try it so workers could fix any issues.

This is just the latest attraction to come to theme parks in Central Florida this year.

At Universal's Islands of Adventure, we already saw the 'Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man' ride upgraded to high-definition, along with the debut of a new parade and nighttime show at Universal Studios.

At the Magic Kingdom, the new Fantasyland has gradually been opening, with more rides expected over the holidays.

Meanwhile, at SeaWorld, a new 3D experience called 'Turtle Trek' just opened.

And next spring, the park plans to debut a penguin-themed attraction called 'Antarctica'.

Miranda Cosgrov, the star of the Nickelodeon show "iCarly" and the voice of the "Despicable Me" character Margo, will be in Orlando next week to start her summer concert series.
