FAMU searches web for new president

School launched website to find candidates

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – FAMU has launched a website to find the school a new president.

The website allows individuals the option to nominate someone for president, look at the criteria the school wants in a candidate, and send messages to the group choosing the president.

FAMU's former president, James Ammons, stepped down in the wake of the hazing death of drum major Robert Champion.

Champion died after an apparent hazing ritual from fellow band members while in Orlando for the Florida Classic at the Citrus Bowl.

The school hopes to choose a new president by next July.
