Government bans chemical in plastic sippy cups

Bisphenol-A linked to brain problems in children

ORLANDO, Fla. - The government says plastic sippy cups for children can longer be made with a potentially dangerous chemical.

The chemical, bisphenol-A -- or BPA, is found in all kinds of products, especially those containing plastic.

Over the last few years, several studies have shown that BPA can lead to brain problems in children.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced on Tuesday that companies can no longer use BPA when they make plastic sippy cups.
