Club patron breaks leg in 17-foot fall, police say

ORLANDO, Fla. – A Texas man was injured early Friday after falling nearly 20 feet from the ceiling of an Orlando night club.

Emergency crews were called just after 1:30 a.m. to Roxy night club, which is located at 740 Bennett Road, for what was initially reported as a roof collapse.

When firefighters arrived, they found the roof of the building intact, however there was a large hole in the drop ceiling inside.

Police said that during a show at the club, a man somehow climbed into the drop ceiling and crawled several feet before the tiles gave way.  He then fell 17 feet to the ground.

Police said the man possibly broke both his legs in the fall and was taken to the hospital where he received treatment for his injuries. His head was also bleeding when police arrived.

The man, who smelled like alcohol, only told police his name and asked "what happened?" according to the report.

The night club was closed immediately after the incident.  Police did not say if the man will face any charges.

Estimated damage to the property is valued at $4000.
