ORLANDO, Fla. – In order to save local companies from dealing with unproductive or absent workers, Orlando City Soccer Club is asking for longer lunch breaks during Thursday's U.S. soccer match.
The club launched the #ForLunchAndCountry campaign on Tuesday, asking employers to give their workers an extended lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. The USA-Germany match begins at 12:00 p.m. Thursday.

"In an attempt to head off the spate of illnesses, unscheduled jury duty and mysterious deaths in extended family, Orlando City is organizing a World Cup lunch break," the team wrote on its website.
Orlando City created a letter for workers to give to their bosses to convince them to join the campaign.

In the letter, the team says, "As we're sure you are aware, the reason for these potential absences is that the USA take on Germany in a crucial World Cup match."
Orlando City suggests companies could host their own watch parties in their offices or allow workers to join the watch party at Wall Street.
