Armed robbery suspect flees from scene, police say

Police are searching for a man who they say robbed a Dollar Tree on Orange Blossom Trail Monday night.

ORLANDO, Fla. – The Dollar Tree in Orlando was robbed at gunpoint on Monday night by a man with a bandana over his face, according to police reports.

Tiffany Coleman, the store's cashier was checking out a customer when Coleman told police she saw a man wear dark clothing, sunglasses and a bandana around his face walk into the store on at N. Orange Blossom Trail.

Police said Coleman said, "this don't look good," right before the man ordered her and the customer to turn around and face the wall while he got the manager.

Coleman told police that she began to pray aloud, but the suspect told her he wasn't going to harm her and to count to 1,000 before walking away.

Manager Shuntika Holmes told police that she came from the back of the store to find a man holding a gun on aisle three. The person then continued to follow her into the next aisle. She said that the man demanded she open the registers, but she told him the money was in the safe.

Holmes said the man then ordered her to open the safe at gunpoint and handed her a leopard-print drawstring bag, telling her to fill it with bills.

A few stores down, witnesses told cops they saw a man in dark baggy clothes running away. One witness said she saw the man briefly drop and pick up something that appeared to be a handgun.

All witnesses told police they believed the suspect to be a husky black male. Estimates of his height range from as short as 5 feet 2 inches to as tall as 5 feet 8 inches, and estimates of his weight were around 170 to 180 pounds.
