The helicopter was overhead a building on East Colonial Drive near Knight Avenue early Wednesday investigating an attempted burglary when a nearby car was stopped at a red light, deputies said. According to the Sheriff's Office, someone in the car pointed a laser at the windshield of the helicopter multiple times.
"He hit me about four or five times with a green laser," the helicopter pilot said in surveillance video released by the Sheriff's Office. "I can't advise, guys, passenger or driver, but somebody's got a green laser in that car."
Joseph Parrott, 30, was arrested on charges of knowingly and willfully pointing a laser lighting device at the pilot of an aircraft, a third-degree felony. He was being held on $2,500 bond.
The state attorney's office was weighing whether to file charges against the driver, 55-year-old Steven Romano.
It's the second incident regarding a laser pointer and an aircraft in Central Florida over the last two days. On Tuesday, a teen was arrested in Osceola County.
