Suspect in Tier Nightclub stabbing faces first-degree murder charges

Jerry P. Smith died after being stabbed in stomach, police say

ORLANDO, Fla. – A man who fatally stabbed another man at Tier Nightclub is now facing first-degree murder charges.

Police said Jerry P. Smith, 28, died in the fight that broke out around 12:35 a.m. Monday inside downtown Orlando's Tier Nighclub at 20 East Central Boulevard.

According to Orlando police, Smith got into an altercation with Gavin G. Brown, who stabbed Smith in the stomach.

Smith was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

An officer working at the club apprehended Brown, 35, who originally faced charges of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.

No other details were released.
