Hilton Garden Vacation club employee sentenced for wire fraud

ORLANDO, Fla. – A former Hilton Grand Vacation Club employee was sentenced to over a year in prison after admitting to stealing money from the company that was supposed to be used pay out sales incentives to other employees.

Carlota Rosas, 45, pleaded guilty to a wire fraud charge for taking $345,071 from a Hilton Garden Vacation Club sales person incentive program.

From March 2009 through December 2011, Rosas reportedly worked as a senior sales associate for Hilton Garden Vacation Club in Orlando, where she was responsible for selling timeshare properties.

At the time, the company had a sales incentive program where they rewarded employees with pre-paid debit cards.

According to a release issued by the US Attorney's office, Rosas took possession of their debit cards and altered their pin numbers, then changed the former employee's billing addresses so that debit card statements would be sent to her home address.
Rosas was sentenced to 17 months in prison and 17 months of home confinement as well as being ordered to pay restitution to the company.
