Woman shot in Orlando identified

Police officers discover victim while taking inventory nearby

ORLANDO, Fla. – A 48-year-old woman was shot in the back early Wednesday in Orlando, but no arrests have been made in the case.

Theresa M. Carter was shot around 5:15 a.m. on Lime Avenue near West Jackson Street, just west of the Amway Center.

According to officials, Orlando police officers were taking inventory nearby and heard gunshots.  They found a woman who had been shot, and she was taken to a hospital.  She was listed in serious but stable condition.

Orlando police said the shooting was not a random act, but the reason she was shot is not known.

Detectives continue to interview persons who were in the area at the time.
