Oviedo residents help sheriffs catch burglars in the act, SCSO says

At least two residents helped deputies track down neighborhood burglars

Windows and glass fixtures were smashed by burglars at this Oviedo home.

OVIEDO, Fla. – Residents of Stillwater Subdivision in Oviedo helped Seminole County sheriffs deputies catch two juvenile burglar in the act last week.

The Seminole County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call from a resident who reported seeing two people break into a nearby home and then run into the backyard of another home, sheriff's deputies said. When deputies arrived at the scene, another resident was able to direct them to the spot the burglars were last seen.

The burglars were a 13-year-old boy and a 15-year-old girl. They threw rocks into a vacant home and destroyed glass fixtures inside. They were charged with burglary, criminal mischief and the possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, sheriff's deputies said.

The pair have been placed into custody thanks to the help of the Stillwater residents.
