Palm Bay man arrested after road rage incident

Police say he tried to hit woman with his car

PALM BAY, Fla. - A Palm Bay man has been arrested after police say he tried to hit a female with his car as part of a road rage incident on Thursday.

John Reed, 59, was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without the intent to kill after police say he tried to hit a female driver twice who had stepped out of her car following a road rage incident, according to Local 6 news partner Florida Today.

At 1 p.m. on Thursday on the off ramp at 1-95 at Exit 176, the victim was cut off while driving, causing another vehicle to swerve out of the way to avoid a crash. Following that, Reed tried to sideswipe the other car, police said.

After that, the victim pulled into the parking lot of a Denny's off Palm Bay Road, at which point the defendant tried hit the victim twice with his car.

Three passengers, including the driver, were in the car, and one of the passengers and another motorists are cited as witnesses.

Reed is currently being held on $5,000 bond at the Brevard County Jail.
