Speedway traffic clogs Daytona Beach roads

NASCAR fans dealing with heat, traffic

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Traffic is backed up on International Speedway Blvd., as race fans make their way to the Coke Zero 400 race which starts at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.

Fans are doing what they can to stay cool leading up to the race.

"Ice. I had to refill like three or four times with ice and just keep wetting ourselves down, but it is a hot one today," said Cynthia Mastroianni of Lake Mary.

Mastroianni said she had no trouble finding a spot to park her car along Speedway Blvd.

A speedway spokesperson says as of 6 p.m. Saturday, tickets were not sold out, and sales are about the same as last year's.

Daytona police said after the race, westbound traffic on Speedway Blvd. will be backed up and are encouraging drivers to use Beville Road.
