Stolen car found submerged in pond

Orange County rescue workers mistake bystander for driver

Headline Goes Here

MAITLAND, Fla. - A stolen car found fully submerged in an Orange County pond created some confusion Tuesday when rescue workers mistook a bystander for someone who had been in the vehicle.

The bystander actually reported that the car was in the water near 485 N. Keller Road near Maitland Boulevard.

Orange County rescue workers initially thought the bystander had been in the car when it plunged into the pond and issued a search and rescue alert.

It was then discovered that the car had been reported stolen earlier in the day.  It's not known if the car was intentionally driven into the pond.
