Weather cancels opening of Red Bug flyover

Drivers have dealt with construction in area for 2 years

CASSELBERRY, Fla. – After dealing with constant traffic due to two years of construction, drivers in Seminole County will have to wait a few more days for relief.

Crews planned to allow drivers to access the Red Bug Lake Road flyover bridge starting at 6 a.m. Saturday, but rainy weather over the last few days postponed the opening to early Wednesday. The bridge runs over State Road 436 in Casselberry.

According to construction crews, once open, drivers heading south on State Road 436 will stay in the left lane and use the ramp to get onto East Red Bug Lake Road.

Drivers who want to turn left onto Casselberry Square must use the same approach to the bridge, but then turn left at Kewannee Trail.

Workers will set up detour signs to help drivers understand the new traffic patterns.
