Gov. Rick Scott honors Lt. Debra Clayton, other officers during luncheon

Event at Honoring Our Heroes luncheon

ORLANDO, Fla. – Lt. Debra Clayton, who police said was killed back in January by Markeith Loyd, and six other law enforcement officers will be honored Friday afternoon by Gov. Rick Scott at the second annual Honoring Our Heroes luncheon.

The event will take place at the Orlando Police Department Headquarters.

Along with Scott, the Central Florida Urban League and local youth will also be honoring the officers.

Prior to the event, local youth were asked to nominate members of the law enforcement that have made a significant and positive impact in their lives. The officers are unaware of who the youth have nominated.

"We are proud to shine a bright light on the incredible work done by members of the law enforcement community," said Glenton Gilzean Jr., President and C.E.O. of the Central Florida Urban League. "Each honoree went above and beyond to make a difference in the life of a child or young adult; they deserve our utmost appreciation and gratitude."
