Machine gun range coming to Kissimmee

Attraction described as 'adrenaline rush'

KISSIMMEE, Fla. – Central Florida's newest attraction will allow customers to fire real machine guns, promising the thrill of a lifetime.

Machine Gun America is scheduled to open December 20 in Kissimmee.

The 13,000-square-foot facility includes 10 fire lanes.  Customers can choose from 50 different firearms, including 30 types of machine guns, and targets with various themes.

"This is an adrenaline rush type of experience," said Bruce Nierenberg, general manager of Machine Gun America.

Customers can be as young as 13 years old.

Natasha Schweitzer, the chief range safety officer, took Local 6 on a tour of the live action range.

"Never is a customer in the stall alone or anywhere around this area, and a safety ranger is here at all times," she said.

No one under 13 is allowed in Machine Gun America, but if they meet the age requirement and get signed permission from a parent who's with them, they will be allowed to shoot.

Machine Gun America said the facility is much different than a gun range.

"People can't bring their own guns here. They use our guns, our ammunition and we check everything out," said Nierenberg.

The facility also features three state-of-the-art simulators in which guests can shoot in different scenarios with guns converted into lasers.  In a separate area, guests can play video games.
