KISSIMMEE, Fla. - The man accused of fatally shooting two Kissimmee Police Department officers is now facing an additional first-degree murder charge, according to Osceola County court records.

Everett Miller, 45, was arrested on one count of first-degree murder after the shooting on Aug. 18 left Officer Matthew Baxter dead.

The second officer, Sgt. Sam Howard, died at an area hospital the next day, but Miller was not charged in connection with his death until Thursday.

His arraignment is scheduled for Sept. 22.

Authorities say Miller and Baxter were involved in some sort of interaction at Palmway and Cypress Streets in Kissimmee at 9:28 p.m. Howard arrived on the scene at 9:48 p.m. to assist Baxter. Minutes later, at 9:52 p.m., Miller had shot both officers, according to law enforcement officials.

Exact details surrounding the shooting have not been released.

If convicted in the double fatal shooting, Miller could face the death penalty.
