Michael Benjamin was arrested and charged with exposure of sexual organs in a lewd and lascivious manner.

MELBOURNE, Fla. - Police arrested a man Wednesday who is suspected of committing multiple lewd acts in the Melbourne area.

Michael Benjamin, 33, was taken into custody after police witnessed him exposing himself as customers at the Melbourne Square Mall were walking through the area. Benjamin is charged with one count of exposure of sexual organs in a lewd and lascivious manner.

According to a release from the Melbourne Police Department, accounts of a man exposing himself in a lewd and lascivious manner have been reported since January 2013. The suspect would expose himself in Melbourne parking lots, and the department is aware of 11 female victims so far.

Incidents were reported at Walmart Grocery and the Nasa Plaza, both in Melbourne, and the report states that the victims range in age from 17 to 52.

Benjamin has been the prime suspect for the lewd behaviors, according to the release, but because the acts constitute a misdemeanor crime, investigators had to catch the suspect while the crime was being committed.
