LOCKPORT, Ill. - It seemed like the perfect night out on the town for a man and his tiger.

Lockport police say John Basile brought his tiger into a bar on Sunday night before taking a stroll with it down the street.

Ethan Autman was walking along the same road when he started recording the tiger on a leash.

"He was thinking he didn't do anything wrong," Autman told WBBM-TV.

"There were people in their cars shouting 'Is that a tiger?'" said Frances Escoe.

Basile owns the Big Run Wolf Ranch near Lockport where he keeps a number of wild animals including wolves, a bear and the tiger.

Police arrested Basile and charged him with disorderly conduct, reckless conduct and possession of a dangerous animal.

"My concern really was for the people who frequented the downtown area," Lockport police Chief Terry Lemming said. "He was taking his tiger out for a walk."
