Osceola man accused of killing roommate during fight

Robert Thomas Overcash charged with first-degree murder

ST. CLOUD, Fla. – A 23-year-old man is accused of killing his roommate Monday morning during a fight at their St. Cloud home, according to the Osceola County Sheriff's Office.

Robert T. Overcash was arrested on first-degree murder charges. He is accused of killing his roommate, 41-year-old Shawn McKee.

The Osceola County Sheriff's Office said deputies were called at 12:36 a.m. to a home in the 200 block of Ketch Road in St. Cloud and found evidence of a physical disturbance.

Deputies said detectives obtained a search warrant and made contact with Overcash, who had an active warrant for his arrest in an unrelated case. He was taken into custody and cooperated with detectives, officials said.

McKee's body was found on the property, and Overcash was arrested and booked into jail, authorities said.

“(Overcash) admitted to the altercation with the victim,” Osceola County sheriff's office Capt. Jacob Ruiz said.

Ruiz said McKee's body had physical signs of injury, but deputies did not release his cause of death. Ruiz said McKee died as a result of the fight with Overcash.

Detectives are interviewing other people who live in the home who might have seen the fight.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office at 407-348-2222.
