More than a dozen police cars, Brevard County Sheriff's Office SWAT team members and K-9s from the Satellite Police Department were called about 6 a.m. Thursday after a friend of the unidentified man reported a disturbance.

Deputies surrounded a home in the 2000 block of Palm Avenue where the man was believed to be staying.

Deputies made several phone calls to the man as SWAT team members positioned themselves along the residential street. No school lockdowns were reported at the nearby Herbert Hoover Middle School campus, Local 6 News partner Florida Today reported.

Several nearby homes were evacuated as deputies worked to convince the man to step outside the residence, officials said.
