Man barricaded in Indialantic-area home surrenders to SWAT team

Man wanted for questioning in domestic disturbance, deputies say

INDIALANTIC, Fla. – Law enforcement officials from several agencies surrounded an Indialantic home following reports of a domestic disturbance that resulted in an armed man being barricaded inside a residence for several hours.

More than a dozen police cars, Brevard County Sheriff's Office SWAT team members and K-9s from the Satellite Police Department were called about 6 a.m. Thursday after a friend of the unidentified man reported a disturbance.

Deputies surrounded a home in the 2000 block of Palm Avenue where the man was believed to be staying.

Deputies made several phone calls to the man as SWAT team members positioned themselves along the residential street. No school lockdowns were reported at the nearby Herbert Hoover Middle School campus, Local 6 News partner Florida Today reported.

Several nearby homes were evacuated as deputies worked to convince the man to step outside the residence, officials said.

The man surrendered himself to deputies at around 11 a.m. No other information was immediately available.
