ORLANDO, Fla. - Orange County deputies say a man has been charged in connection to a fatal stabbing that happened near the University of Central Florida main campus on Wednesday.

Officials said Luis Aponte, 29, and the victim, who has yet to be identified, had been in a dispute Tuesday night. That dispute resumed Wednesday around 1 p.m. when the victim, Aponte and a third man got into an altercation at 2726 Paine Lane.

An alert was sent out to UCF students, saying "Orange County Deputies are in Bonneville area near UCF's main campus looking for armed suspect wanted in a stabbing.  The vehicle being sought is a faded green Honda Civic 4 door with gray hood.  Unknown tag."

Aponte was found at Alafaya Ponds Mobile Home park a short time later and was taken into custody.

UCF police later tweeted to students "all campus operations are normal."

Aponte has been charged with second-degree homicide.

Detectives said they determined the third man involved was trying to break up the fight between the victim and Aponte. He will not face any charges.
