Man dies in Orlando mobile home fire

Neighbors tried to put out fire before victim found inside, officials say

ORLANDO, Fla. - A man has died from injuries he sustained Sunday in a mobile home fire in Orange County.

The fire broke out late Sunday night at home on Bipe Lane off Narcoosee Road.

Neighbors rushed to try and help fight the fire. They sprayed fire extinguishers on the flames but the fire was too intense. "He locked the doors from the inside, so there was no way to get in," said neighbor Steven Hicks. "Fire was already coming through the windows, heading up toward the ceiling."

Firefighters broke open the door and pulled the man in his 60's from the home. He was rushed to Florida Hospital but died a short time later.

The State Fire Marshall's Office is now investigating the cause of the fire but investigators say it does not look suspicious.
