CLERMONT, Fla. - A man was arrested Friday morning after firing a gun inside the home of a family he was visiting while they were showing off some jewels, Clermont police said.
Officers said Devante Dujuan Johnson, 21, of Groveland, was visiting the home on West Minneola Avenue around 9:30 a.m. when members of the family were looking at red jewels. Johnson then pulled out a handgun and fired one shot, police said. The bullet hit an an air mattress before lodging in the floor of the home, police said.

One of the victims ran outside screaming for help as Johnson fled from the home, police said.
As police were arriving at the victims' home, they saw Johnson near the intersection of Eighth Street and Montrose Avenue, officers said. Johnson ignored the officers and continued to flee before one officer caught up and tackled him, police said. Other officers arrived to help arrest him.
Police said Johnson was carrying a backpack when they found him. Drugs, drug paraphernalia and a gun light were found in the bag, police said. The gun used to fire the bullet inside the home was not found, according to police.
Johnson is facing felony drug charges, aggravated assault with a firearm and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, police said.
The officer who tackled Johnson received minor injuries while trying to arrest him, police said. He was not taken to a hospital.
