Man killed, woman wounded in 'justifiable' shooting at Orlando home

ORLANDO, Fla. - A man was killed and a woman was wounded late Sunday in a "justifiable" shooting outside an Orlando home, according to deputies.

The shooting, possibly sparked by a man and his ex-girlfriend, occurred just before midnight on Falling Water Drive in the Hiawassee Hills subdivision in Pine Hills.

Orange County sheriff's deputies said a group of men and women arrived at the home and got into an argument with residents inside.  The argument turned into a fight and several shots were fired between two people, deputies said.

A man, later identified as U'Darrious Slater, 23, was shot and killed, and a woman was also struck by gunfire, according to deputies.

"My mom told me to hide in the closet and she called the cops.  I was just wondering if they were going to break into the house," said Joshua Riffel.

The woman was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Deputies said a man was taken into custody for questioning, but officials ruled the shooting a justifiable homicide.  The case will be forwarded to the state attorney's office for review.
