ORLANDO, Fla. – Police are investigating a violent incident on the UCF campus that left a man injured.
The incident happened around 1:45 a.m. near the Sigma Chi fraternity house off Gemini Boulevard.
According to UCF police, the man was retrieving something from his car when he noticed someone looking into a vehicle in the parking lot. The man thought the person was a frat brother, so he approached him and asked him if he needed any help, police said.
The culprit pushed the man, who fell to the ground, police said. When the man got up and approached the assailant a second time, the assailant pulled out a knife, according to police.
The man grabbed the knife with his hand, resulting in a cut to his palm, police said. The culprit pushed the man to the ground again, and ran into a nearby wooded area, police said.
Officers set up a perimeter but didn't find the culprit, who was described as a dark-skinned man in his mid-20s, over 6 feet tall, with short, wavy hair. He was wearing jeans, a white shirt and black shoes.
UCF police issued an alert to students.
*UCF Alert* A suspicious incident was reported on campus around 1:40 a.m. near Gemini Blvd. North and Alafaya Trail, in the parking lot of the Sigma Chi fraternity house.
A man leaving the house and approaching the parking lot encountered a burglary in progress. The man approached the suspect, a struggle ensued, and the suspect pulled out a pocketknife before fleeing the scene.
The victim sustained minor injuries. At this time, there is no other known impact to campus.
UCFPD established a perimeter and K-9s assisted with a search, but we were unable to locate the suspect. The suspect is described as a dark-skinned male, at least 6-feet tall, in his mid 20s, with short, wavy hair, and wearing a white shirt, jeans and black shoes.

Suspect was armed with a knife and fled the scene after a brief struggle. Victim sustained minor injuries.
