ORLANDO, Fla. - Deputies are searching for a suspect after a man was shot Saturday afternoon, the Orange County Sheriff's Office said.

The incident happened around 1:05 p.m. near the Food Lotto store on Americana Boulevard and near the Pointe Vista apartments.

Deputies met with the victim, who said he was sitting behind the store when another person reached over the gate and shot at him for no reason, causing injuries to his face, deputies said.

The victim said the male suspect fled from inside Pointe Vista Apartments and he dialed 911 for assistance. The Sheriff's Office said the area around the apartment and store was secured while deputies worked for several hours attempting to find the suspect.

Three people were detained at the scene as they were persons of interest based on the evidence collected by detectives. Deputies said all three were released shortly after being interviewed.

No arrest has been made, deputies said. The investigation is open and ongoing.
