Man shot at point-blank range, killed outside Orlando gas station

Orange County deputies search for gunman

ORLANDO, Fla. - Orange County deputies continue to search for a gunman who shot and killed another man at point-blank range outside a gas station.

Eric George, 42, died in the shooting, which occurred around 5 p.m. Thursday at the RaceTrac at 6001 S. John Young Parkway near Oak Ridge Road in Orlando.

According to the Orange County Sheriff's Office, George rode a bike to the store and was inside the RaceTrac at the same time as the suspected gunman.  They both left the store, and the gunman walked up to George and shot him several times, deputies said.

"It was a very nasty, bloody scene, without question," said Jeff Williamson, spokesman for the Orange County Sheriff's Office.

George was pronounced dead at the scene.

The assailant fled in a late 1980s model Toyota Supra, which has faded gray paint and possible damage to the front driver's side of the vehicle.

The gunman was described as a black man, about 6 feet tall and 200 pounds.  He was wearing a three-quarter length sleeved red and white jersey, faded blue jeans and a red baseball cap.

Anyone with details is asked to call the Orange County Sheriff's Office or Crimeline at 800-423-TIPS.
