DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – A man was shot three times Sunday night while standing outside a Florence Street home, according to the Daytona Beach Police Department.

Marquis McCants, 42, was at a home on Florence Street around 8 p.m. then when he went outside to the front porch, he was met by two men he didn't recognize, according to the report.

Police said one of the men pulled out a gun and shot McCants three times. McCants was lying face up on the ground bleeding when first responders arrived at the home.

McCants wife and a neighbor were inside the home shuffling things around as paramedics attended to McCants, the report said. After McCants was taken to an area hospital, the two women were reluctant to provide police with information about the shooting.

The neighbor said McCants' wife ran over to her house after the shooting and told her what happened, then the two ran back to the home to get the victim's wife child, according to the report.

The victim's wife tried to get back inside the home after the shooting, but officers would not let her because it was an active crime scene.

"I don't give a (expletive), this is my (expletive) house," the 33-year-old-woman told police, according to the report.

After a supervisor reiterated that she could not go inside the home, she went to the hospital to check on her husband,

No arrests have been made and no suspects have been identified.
