Man shot in neck at Altamonte Springs bus stop

Shooter still at large, police say

ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. - A man was shot in the neck at a bus stop in Altamonte Springs, and police continue to search for the shooter.

The man was shot at a bus stop during a robbery attempt near Interstate 4 and Lake Destiny Road about 10:30 a.m., according to police. The shooter was described as a black man with his hair dyed red.

The gunman demanded the victim's wallet, and before he could hand it over, the gunman shot him in the neck and ran off.

Elizabeth Bogdandy thought she heard a car accident outside her condo at Destiny Springs -- a gun shot.

"Oh my gosh. Scary, scary, because my son is 17 years old," she said.

"The bus comes every hour, so people are with their families, most of the time, catching the bus. That's pretty scary," said Selina Marrero, who takes the bus there.

The 19-year-old victim went to the 7-Eleven at Lake Destiny Drive and told the clerk, who called 911.

Operator: Where is the gunshot wound at?

Clerk: On his right neck and he's bleeding all over the place.

The victim was taken to Orlando Health and is expected to survive, police said.

Police said they don't believe the victim and the gunman know each other.

The shooting had a Lutheran church with a summer camp on lockdown all day, according to the church's secretary.
