OCALA, Fla. - A Marion County man has been arrested after deputies say he became enraged that his dog wandered off and became abusive towards his family.

Marcus Waters, 37, has been charged with child abuse in the Saturday afternoon incident. Witnesses told deputies that Waters' dog wandered off and that when he couldn't find the dog, he returned home, becoming "angry and abusive."

Deputies said two victims, a mother and daughter, tried to leave when Waters became "so enraged that he jumped onto the hood of the vehicle and began stomping the windshield."

The windshield shattered and glass shards cut the child, according to the report.

Waters ran away and while authorities were searching for him, he called the victim and said he was climbing down from a tree and would surrender, which he did.

It's not clear if the dog was found.
