MARION COUNTY, Fla. - The Marion County Sheriff's Office has a fugitive in jail after a pursuit Thursday afternoon.
The sheriff's helicopter flew overhead the entire time, capturing the crash as the vehicle flipped on its side.
Deputies attempted to initiate a traffic stop on the white minivan, but the driver refused to stop.
Law enforcement officers said they got a tip that Todd Marchesano, 48, was driving the vehicle.
Sheriff Billy Woods posted a video on Facebook at the end of August, asking for help finding him. The warrant was issued after the department said Marchesano refused to tell them where he lives, which is required because he is a convicted sex offender.
"Todd, there's a lot of people now looking for you. I suggest you turn yourself in," Woods said in the video post in August.
Deputies said Marchesano's vehicle was headed toward a busy intersection, so officers took their chance to use a PIT maneuver. The vehicle hit the median and flipped on its side.
Officials said the vehicle is also suspected to be involved in a property crime and the license plate was not registered to the vehicle.
The passenger, Tina Nabbefeld, was also arrested and accused of stealing $6,000 worth of vases from an area cemetery.
