Troy is an award-winning meteorologist, who joined Local 6 in December 2008.

Troy landed his first job in TV at WMAZ-TV in Macon while attending the University of Georgia. There, he worked as a one-man-band reporter. He soon became the morning and noon meteorologist and news anchor at WRDW-TV in Augusta, Ga. While there, Troy did weathercasts live from "The Masters" golf tournament, and he was recognized by the Associated Press for "Best Weather" for his extended live coverage of Tropical Storm Floyd.

It was then off to chasing tornadoes in Oklahoma City for KFOR-TV. Troy spent much of his time warning the people of Oklahoma about large-scale, dangerous tornadoes and forecasting many ice storms that left thousands without power across the nation's heartland.

From Oklahoma City, Troy moved on to his biggest challenge yet. He joined KLRT-TV in Little Rock as their first-ever chief meteorologist, where he built the entire weather department from the ground up. He spent five years covering countless tornado outbreaks and ice storms. During one memorable storm, Troy was on the air for eight hours non-stop, warning people about dangerous tornadoes and strong winds. And to top it all off, Troy's evening newscast at KLRT earned him an Emmy.

Troy received his certification as a meteorologist from Mississippi State University. He is a member of both the American Meteorological Society and the National Weather Association. He also holds the seal of approval from the American Meteorological Society.

After years of covering tornadoes in the central U.S., Troy is excited to be a little closer to home. Though most of his family lives in central Georgia, he has relatives in St. Petersburg and Brandon.
